GENERAL OVERVIEW:  

Diversity & Inclusion Consultant is an integral part of the Human Resources team that partners with business units to provide guidance and support to management and employees, and subsidiary staff on diversity and inclusion related activities, events, and issues while overlaying the diversity lens on strategy, procedures, policy and practice.  Additionally, the Diversity & Inclusion Consultant provides program management to the HR function and support efforts to align the D&I strategy with business goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Design, development and implementation of strategic diversity programs that align with business goals and the diverse needs of the customer. The incumbent leads in collaboration with the Diversity Manager the planning, implementation and administration of corporate-wide strategic plans for inclusion initiatives and programs to support the business units in cultural change.
  • Works with internal communications and all Human Resources functions to ensure the internal marketing of Human Resources initiatives. Ensures initiatives and projects align with the corporate business plans and the diversity and inclusion strategy
  • Conducts research and presents best in class recommendations to the VP D&I and other HR Business Partners to better integrate diversity into the organization to support successful business results.  Identifies, builds, and sustains community partnerships to support corporate diversity and inclusion projects/plans/initiatives and business strategies
  • In order to support Highmark’s Affirmative Action plans and talent strategies the incumbent must stay current with EEO and OFCCP regulations and coordinate with HR Operations.    The Diversity & Inclusion Consultant provides analysis on diversity and demographic trends and designs strategies for implementing cultural change and creating an inclusive work environment.
  • Manages and develops strategic objectives for the Business Resource Groups (BRGs) and partners with Talent Acquisition and the Manager of Diversity to develop strategies that support an inclusive approach to acquiring talent.
  • Partners with business units and other HR functions to ensure the overly of the diversity lens on policy, procedure, and strategy to enhance and support business objectives. Leads project management activities of complex large scale D&I related initiatives and/or projects
  • Maintains contacts with diversity and affirmative action related organizations and agencies to stay current with trends and regulations that impact Highmark’s business. Responsible for enhancing the internal and external company brand as an organization that values inclusion and diversity highlighting our commitment to being an employer of choice.
  • Project Participation: Analyze, drives, and manages strategies to support associated departmental projects.  Serves as project manager on several enterprise-wide diversity initiatives. Through various communication vehicles in partnership with Communications inform and engage employees on subjects related to D&I through internal communications and messaging.
  • Leads the development, management, and integration of the organization’s Business Resource Groups. Developing relationships with community agencies, nonprofit organizations and other institutions in an effort to develop a diverse talent pipeline.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in Diversity and Affirmative Action. 
  • Project management experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in or equivalent training in Human Resources, Business Management or a related field
  • Master’s degree preferred

Licenses or Certifications (preferred):

  • PHR or SPHR

Work Experience:

  • Five to seven years of experience in Human Resources and/or Business Management is preferred.
  • Bilingual ability preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and interface effectively with all levels of the organization, especially management team members
  • One (1) to two (2) years project management skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in facilitation/presentation

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Project Manager Certification
  • Five to seven years of experience in Human Resources and/or Business Management is preferred.
  • Bilingual ability preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and interface effectively with all levels of the organization, especially management team members
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in facilitation/presentation
  • Metrics and analytics background.  Past history of develop diversity metrics.
  • Familiar with change management methodology/practices
  • The Diversity and Inclusion Consultant must possess strong, operational, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, be a team player, manage multiple projects, are a certified project manager and possess a strong knowledge of diversity metrics and analytics.
