GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Provides leadership to PFS departments necessary to achieve revenue cycle success; supports management and staff in revenue cycle initiatives; identifies, assesses, evaluates and disseminates leading-edge benchmarks, industry trends and best practices; proactively prioritizes, communicates and directs processes to improve business performance; works with internal and external customers and vendors; completes other activities in order to achieve short and long term goals; plans, manages, and controls organizational resources to achieve objectives in a cost-effective, timely, accurate, and compliant manner; ensures appropriate communication of PFS issues and priorities.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accountable for annual and periodic targets for specific departmental key performance indicators and overall organizational revenue cycle performance. (20%)
  • Demonstrates customer service focus by setting and adhering to highest standards for self and others within the department for communication and maintaining positive relationships. Incorporates the needs and concerns of diverse constituencies into departmental decision-making processes. (20%)
  • Actively monitors and participates in department staff management and practices effective staff management to achieve desired departmental outcomes for operating results, employee job satisfaction, and leadership development. Supervises staff, evaluates work, and recommends and implements approved corrective action. Demonstrates ongoing commitment to recruitment, development, and retention of highly talented staff by rewarding the right behaviors. (20%)
  • Functions as a dynamic leader to achieve positive outcomes in cash flow, compliance, and customer service. Facilitates and/or supports revenue cycle initiatives within area of responsibility, other PFS Departments, and throughout the health system. (20%)
  • Serves as change agent to address cost-effectiveness, revenue cycle needs and enhancements in revenue cycle initiatives. (10%)
  • Ensures effective use of technological advancements within current systems or available throughout the industry. (10%).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7-10 years’ experience in revenue cycle or reimbursement role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable government rules and regulations including Medicare, Medicaid, CHAMPUS, etc.
  • Proven successful leadership, management, and problem solving skills, and ability to function and complete assignments as an independent agent.

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree.
