JOB SUMMARY 

HM Health Solutions is seeking an Undergraduate Intern – Threat & Vulnerability Management. As part of the Information Security Operations Center (ISOC), the Threat & Vulnerability Management Undergraduate Intern will have the opportunity to conduct (and learn about the process of) security event monitoring, intrusion analysis, threat intelligence analysis, incident response, vulnerability scanning, and more in support of the Highmark Health family of organizations. Candidates will additionally have the opportunity to present to senior leaders within the Information Security & Risk Management department and HM Health Solutions.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Conduct security monitoring and incident review using a Security Information and Event Management platform (SIEM).
  • Review NetFlow, Endpoint, Database, and various other security-relevant logs for anomalies.
  • Assist with the execution of enterprise vulnerability scanning activities.
  • Complete tasks to enable the on time, within budget, and in-scope delivery of information security projects. 
  • Present new and existing information security information to workforce and management.
  • Assist in incident response procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Enrolled in a program for Bachelor’s Degree - Information Security, Information Systems,  Information Assurance, Computer Science or related field

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Preferred

  • CompTIA Network+ and/or CompTIA Security+ are a plus

SKILLS

  • Knowledge of Operating Systems Concepts (Windows, Linux, macOS, and/or z/OS)
  • Knowledge of Networking Principles (TCP/IP, routing, OSI Model)
  • Knowledge of Information Security concepts
  • Scripting skills (e.g. Python, Ruby) are a plus
  • Strong teamwork and inter-personal skills

Summary
