GENERAL PURPOSE:

The sales messaging analyst position supports the growth of Highmark sales goals through the development of customer-focused, strategically-positioned messaging and/or creative design collateral.  Serves as project manager for high exposure, critical impact projects related to sales activity.  Responsible for the development of professional, concise sales messaging collateral (subject to stringent guidelines and accuracy expectations) in support of Highmark’s overall sales objectives.  Coordinates and communicates effectively with all levels of the organization and senior management for the collection, analysis and documentation of information/creative concepts related to the Request for Proposals (RFP) and other client communications (presentations, placemats, etc).  Consults with Sales and subject matter experts to write professional and effective RFP responses, executive summaries, and/or create visual communications via advanced strategic research, market analysis, and creative resources for key industry stakeholders (external clients, consultants, Partner Plans).  This includes determining appropriate solutions, products, and strategies to meet their specific needs and to ensure final product depicts Highmark’s value, differentiators and resonates with key stakeholders. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Prioritizes and manages multiple projects simultaneously and independently and provides expert guidance for the creation, development and delivery of value proposition sales collateral (including RFPs, executive summaries, presentations, placemats, etc).  

2.Communicates effectively (verbal and written) with all levels of the organization to resolve problems, prioritize, multi-task and build and maintain strong relationships throughout the organization.

3.Creates and tailors product information and positioning to customize various sales strategies (via written and visual communication materials) with targeted, innovative solutions according to project timelines. Provides centralized quality review of messaging and visual information library to ensure accuracy, consistency, appropriate positioning and competitive differentiation.

4.Business and technical subject matter expert to create, develop, write and manage information/graphical resources and automation tools to be used for sales staff to respond to customer needs in a customized solution-sales driven market.  (Understands product, solution and company value messages and repurpose into sales-ready content.).  Interpret and understand needs of customer to create a compelling, well-articulated value proposition that aligns Highmark’s products/services with the customers’ strategy.

5.Responsible for managing and coordinating complex projects or ad hoc initiatives that can influence the division’s financial profitability and/or its reputation or relationship with internal or external customers.  Coordinate and implement special projects of various sizes, initiated by internal and external contacts

6.Applies knowledge of graphic standards, brand requirements to materials, as appropriate, adhering to company policies and procedures.

7.Other duties as assigned or requested.

III. QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Licenses/Certifications, and Experience

Minimum

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent 
  • 1-2 years of Experience in business writing, communications, marketing, sales support 
  • 1-2 years of Experience with Highmark products or health insurance products 
  • PA Producer license with lines of authority in Health (within 90 days of hire)

Preferred

  • Experience in business writing, communications, marketing, sales support
  • Experience with Highmark products or health insurance products
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Sales or Communications
  • 2-4 years experience in graphic design/visual communications
  • 2-5 years experience in marketing/sales division
  • Experience with Proposal Automation Software
  • Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, InDesign and internet navigation.
  • Experience in training/mentoring

  • Good presentation skills
