JOB SUMMARY

This job partners internal customers throughout the family of companies to effectively manage costs and quantitatively assess viability of key strategic decisions. The incumbent supports the Vice President in providing advisory support to Senior Executives across the entire Organization, through implementation and execution against administrative cost management strategies at the parent, leading financial modeling for new strategies for assigned areas of support and project managing new financial processes and activities to support evolving business needs. Engages with VP’s and SVP's across the Organization to understand strategic analysis required and provides advisory feedback on financial impacts of different strategic paths. Supports emerging Organization performance aspirations including the continued maturation of Organization score carding processes and support the development of annual and long term incentive plans. Conducts performance management activities that will necessitate interaction with senior executive across the Organization including business unit leads (Presidents and CFOs) and other members of Highmark Health's executive leadership team.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform management responsibilities including, but not limited to: involved in hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity.  Plan, organize, staff, direct and control the day-to-day operations of the department; develop and implement policies and programs as necessary; may have budgetary responsibility and authority.
  • Interact with a wide array of internal and external customers at all levels of the Organization up to the CFO, including the finance, actuarial, cost and budgeting, membership and information technology departments, to discuss results of financial analysis, corporate initiatives, and financial modeling findings with VP, Enterprise Finance Strategy, Senior VP, Finance and CFO.
  • Lead the corporate services operating expense oversight, including maintenance of budget and forecast development processes and assessment of operating effectiveness with respect to current and multi-year financial performance targets.
  • Prepare and present financial (business case) analysis of corporate initiatives to Senior Management for use in the strategic planning process and daily management of the business activities of the Organization; This accountability involves partnering with the business owners (SVPs and VPs) of the corporate strategic initiatives to obtain the data necessary to complete the analysis of expenditures, cash flows, and return and risk to the Corporation associated with each initiative; and presenting findings.
  • Develop and lead Organization performance management efforts including the development of enterprise level KPI, incentive plans and insightful/actionable reporting to guide enterprise level decision making. Share results of standard and ad hoc analytics of performance with senior leaders up to and including business unit president's, business unit CFOs and the Organization CFO.
  • Lead monitoring efforts around Organization capital deployment across Highmark Health's footprint and support Organization capital prioritization and capital plan development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration/Management or Health Administration

Preferred

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration/Management or Health Administration

EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 7 - 10 years in Finance
  • 5 - 7 years in Management
  • 3 - 5 years in People Management

Preferred

  • 3 - 5 years in the Healthcare Industry
