JOB SUMMARY (Summarizes the major purpose and primary responsibilities)

This job supervises and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the primary non-clinical support staff for case management. Selects, develops and continuously coaches staff to the highest levels of performance.  Motivates and builds teams through the creation of a work environment and conditions that contribute to highest levels of performance. Coordinates with other managers in case management as needed to ensure adequate non-clinical coverage is being provided.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES (Describes the critical tasks, duties and responsibilities of the position.)

  • Performs management responsibilities to include, but are not limited to: involved in hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity.
  • Plans, organizes, staffs, directs and controls the day-to-day operations of the department; develops and implements policies and programs as necessary; may have budgetary responsibility and authority.
  • Monitors and manages daily requests to ensure adequate staffing and resources are available to ensure team performance expectations and goals are met.
  • Oversees the performance of staff in the administration of service of these programs.   Selects, trains, motivates and develops the staff to enhance their performance and behaviors.   Creates a work environment that recognizes rewards and motivates employees to continuously improve business processes to add greater value to the products and programs supplied to our members. 
  • Manages alternative work schedules and actively guide and coach employees provide career development to maximize performance.
  • Manages changes in roles / responsibilities of the non-clinical support function over time. Makes prioritization and resource allocation decisions during changes in work flow.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on the responsibilities / activities of the new role.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

Associate Degree-

Substitutions (Acceptable substitutions in lieu of a degree 1 ½ years’ experience  = 1 year college)

High School Diploma with 3-5 years of experience in a healthcare/health plan environment

PREFERRED EDUCATION

EXPERIENCE

Minimum: This section refers to the minimum years and type of applicable experience needed to perform the job.  Minimum requirements must be non-comparative, objective, and relevant.

  • 2-4 years' experience in a healthcare environment
  • 1-2 years' experience in a lead or similar role providing mentoring or leadership to staff

Preferred: This section refers to additional desired years and type of experience that the hiring manager would prefer, above and beyond the basic requirements of the job.

  • 2-4 years' experience in a case or disease management environment                    
  • Prior management experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (List the attributes required to perform the job through demonstrated service, education or training)

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing administrative support.  This includes knowledge of any tools needed to support non-clinical activities
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms and other office procedures
  • Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of staff and management teams
  • Ability to solve complex issues on multiple levels
  • Ability to solve problems independently and creatively
  • Ability to handle many tasks simultaneously and respond to customers and their issues promptly
  • Ability to communicate well in person, via phone and via e-mail (verbally and written)
