GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Serve as the single point of contact for measuring and improving cardiac quality.  Job entails monitoring abstracting for 5 registries, and ensuring accurate and timely uploading of information for these registries.  Summarize key information from the registries to show current quality status.  Reach across surgery, medicine, nursing, and other disciplines to improve cardiac quality.  Run ongoing and ad hoc queries in the registries and across AHN systems to assist with any of the above tasks.                                   

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be the primary point of contact for understanding cardiac registries, including definitions for all measures, use of the registry, uploading/harvest from the registry, downloading results, and knowing applications.  May be involved with upgrades; ensuring quality of data; supporting abstractors.  Current registries include STS, NCDR CathPCI; NCDR ICD, and NCDR Mission Lifeline.  Interfaces with staff running TVT and Chest Pain.  Aware of GWTG A Fib registry. (40%)
  • Create and maintain reports to measure cardiac quality in assigned areas.  May include drilldown areas such door to balloon, etc.  Will include broader measurement outside of registries such as mortality, readmission rates, LOS (Crimson), and operational metrics (Epic).  Could interface with other quality domains (infection control, patient safety, patient experience) and their systems. (15%)
  • Provide quality information in multiple methods (e.g. tables, graphs, charts).  Know tools to perform these; how to do them, and when to use them. (15%)
  • Work to improve quality based upon gaps in performance or prioritized goals.  Know and use basic quality techniques such as PDSA and/or A3.  Reach across surgery, medicine, nursing, RT, and other disciplines to improve cardiac quality. (25%)
  • Other duties as assigned.  Participate in meetings and M&M's relating to cardiac quality. (5%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Associate’s degree in Clinical, Business, or IT related field
  • 1-3 years experience in analytic work (e.g. using spreadsheets)
  • 1-3 years experience in computer systems and/or cardiac care

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Clinical, Business, or IT related field
  • Valid PA RN license
