GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Directs, develops, and oversees the clinical-operational informatics program focused on key service lines and analytics to drive care transformation across the enterprise to promote patient safety, support workflow, and optimize efficiency. In collaboration with the medical, nursing, operations, and IT leadership, will participate in the planning and implementation of the clinical system strategy across the continuum of care to support the delivery of quality patient care and enhance clinical practice. Works to translate patient safety principles and quality and regulatory requirements into specifications for all clinical systems. Leads a high performing clinical informatics team that works across the enterprise to support the execution of the care transformation vision.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Functions as the primary leadership liaison between the clinical and IT teams as it relates to service lines and AHN Quality and Highmark PEPP teams.
  • Provides leadership for the clinical informatics and IT teams in the development of dashboards and reporting tools to improve the quality and provider experience. Collaborates with the project team, IT staff, patient care staff, and physicians to facilitate successful implementations and ongoing optimization.
  • Manages the development, oversight, and evaluation of a strategic map of regulatory and quality metrics to assure clinical systems are designed and implemented at the optimal level of performance from both a clinical and operational perspective.
  • Directs the development, implementation, and evaluation of current and future state analyses resulting in operational redesign to optimize workflow by embedding technology into clinical workflow. Incorporates the best clinical practice and regulatory requirements into workflow redesign.
  • Manages complex interactions between clinical applications being implemented and various care processes and workflows.
  • Partners with the Director, EHR Training to develop and implement training programs to educate users on new/upgraded applications and redesigned clinical processes.
  • Partners with IT leadership to identify, select, and maintain equipment needed for utilization of the clinical systems.
  • Coordinates policy development and monitoring of clinical process changes related to clinical system implementations with a focus on patient safety and regulations.
  • Participates in and oversees operational/clinical committees related to informatics.
  • Prepares and maintains operating budgets and monitors expenditures within guidelines.
  • Interviews, hires, and terminates as necessary. Mentors and evaluates performance of staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, informatics or a health care related field
  • Current PA licensure as a professional registered nurse
  • At least 7 years of management experience

Preferred

  • Master's degree
