GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Ensures that patient care is delivered in a safe and skilled manner; integrates the policies and procedures of the Department of Nursing to maintain a continuity of quality care.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge and understanding of hospital nursing policies and procedures. Maintains quality assurance programs according to established regulatory bodies. Participates in hospital nursing committees to provide continuity of nursing care throughout the hospital organization. (30%)
  • Directs and assists the staff in the delivery of safe quality patient care. Assists in evaluating new procedures and equipment for use in patient care and diagnostics. (25%)
  • Performs the duties of a registered nurse. (20%)
  • Develops and reviews all department patient care policies and procedures. Communicates to all department areas new patient care policies and procedures. (10%)
  • Provides in-service on the care and treatment of patients to all staff of assigned clinical areas. (5%)
  • Supervises staff, evaluates work, and recommends and implements approved disciplinary action. (10%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Current PA licensure as an RN
  • 5 years of specialty nursing experience

Preferred

  • BSN
  • Charge nurse experience
