Job Description Summary:Serve as legal counsel and subject matter expert on privacy, policy and data ethics matters throughout Highmark Health’s health plan businesses. Provide accurate privacy legal advice and counsel to business and operational units in support of programs, processes and initiatives. Prepare effective legal documents based on knowledge of Federal, state, European Union and other applicable privacy and related laws and the regulatory environment in which the Corporation and its affiliates (“Corporation”) function.. Protect the privacy of the Corporation’s Confidential Information, including member information and Competitively Sensitive Information (CSI), through the application of legal and ethical principles and best practices. Conduct Privacy Impact and Risk Assessments. Lead Incident Response Teams in investigating potential disclosures of Confidential Information and oversee risk assessment, mitigation, remediation and notification. Respond to privacy-related inquiries and present well-reasoned and creative solutions and alternatives based upon independent legal research and analysis of the facts and the law. Demonstrate increasing knowledge of the Corporation’s business, while retaining the discipline of legal analysis. Work cooperatively with inside counsel, and as necessary, outside legal counsel.
