JOB SUMMARY

This job anticipates the needs of the Organization and helps to coordinate work performed by the HR and Payroll Systems team for configuration changes or EIBs impacting pay results. This role facilitates coordinating between the different work streams in ensuring that a detailed Payroll Operations Playbook is followed, resulting in accurate pay results.  This job works closely with the Director of Payroll Operations on strategy activities and the Manager, Payroll Operations from a processing perspective.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Anticipate and solve issues and problems related to bi-weekly pay processing and/or project activities. Identify the severity and priority of issues, determine corporate-wide impacts, present solid and viable options to implement workable solutions. Conduct ongoing issue resolution meetings as needed with all appropriate parties.
  • Work closely with the HR & Payroll Systems Team to perform analysis, review data, and develop reports to process payroll in an efficient and controlled manner. Identify business requirements for payroll system enhancements and ensure programmed calculations in automated system perform accurately.  Perform project coordinating activities as required for identified process improvements or minor payroll projects
  • Plays a liaison role between Payroll Operations and other critical work streams that supply inputs into payroll processing to ensure the Payroll Operations Playbook is being executed flawlessly and timely to guarantee minimal to zero payroll defects. Track and confirm all government / state regulations updates are reviewed and implemented as required. Ensure Process Documentation and Flows related to Payroll Processing are developed and maintained to properly depict activities performed, control points, accountable parties. Actively own, update and maintain the Payroll Operations Playbook as required based on process, system and critical project changes.
  • Maintain close working relationship with other HR areas to ensure accuracy and completeness of data stored within Workday and HRSO, understanding how the other areas in the organization utilize the data and continue to improve upon the efficiency of the applications by driving and leading projects and process improvement events.
  • Work closely with the Payroll Service Delivery Specialist and other critical work streams to research and resolve employee payroll questions and issues received via employee service requests, and provide excellent customer service by responding quickly and in a courteous and satisfactory manner.
  • Work closely and in conjunction with the Finance Function to ensure all internal/external audits and accounting adjustments are efficiently and accurately accounted for and performed within the Payroll Operations Team. Perform internal/external audits as required to help support Payroll Operations.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources

Substitutions

  • High School Diploma/GED and 6 years of experience

EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 5 years of payroll processing in a multi-state environment
  • Experience with timekeeping systems such as Workday or Kronos
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Power Point. Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience in process improvement: process documentation/change, collection and analysis of related metrics, problem solving, and reduction in cycle time, etc.

Preferred

  • Experience processing union pay
  • Workday pay and timekeeping, or Kronos
  • Experience with Salesforce
  • Advanced proficiency using Excel
  • Experience with processing pay within Hospital environment

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

Preferred

  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
